Not a Woodchuck

Last week, Denny tried to identify the humpbacked, grayish animal with a bushy tail that crossed our driveway. His best guess was a woodchuck, but today he saw the animal again and got a better look.

This time, it was on the golf course and the golfing buddies helped identify it. It was close enough that they got a really good look. It was a porcupine. Apparently with its quills down, it looks similar to the smaller woodchuck.

Further along in the round, they did see a woodchuck so they had the chance to compare the two animals. This was at the Province Lake Golf Course.

Since the first one he saw crossed our driveway, there’s a chance that I’ll get to see it sometime. I’ll keep a respectful distance.
