First Lobster Roll for the Summer

We set out on Wednesday to stock the fridge and pantry. Normally I drag my feet on shopping excursions, but this was a Wednesday so we set out with alacrity. What’s so special about Wednesdays, you might ask?

That’s the day that the Lone Oak Ice Cream stand has $8 lobster rolls. What a bargain! Usually one expects to pay $12 to $15 for the privilege of eating these. When you do see a lower price, you can expect extra fillers like chopped celery and lettuce or a smaller bun than usual.

At Lone Oak, they pack the budget-priced lobster rolls with tasty claw meat. The buns are full-sized and lightly toasted, just like the very best restaurants serve. A single piece of lettuce keeps the bun from getting soggy. YUM…

One of our favorite summer indulgences - lobster rolls from Lone Oak in Rochester, New Hampshire.

UPDATE: As of 2017, the Wednesday lobster rolls are now $9.95. Still a bargain, in my opinion.

Well, YUM. I’ve never had one of those–one just doesn’t come across them here in Kansas!

Thanks for introducing me to lobster rolls while I was up there. I had no idea they would be so wonderful!
